Food Truck Treats: Cupkates

Myers_Lori_webIf you have not had the pleasure of meeting the Cupkates truck, please allow me to introduce you. Named for Kate, their Chief Cupcake Officer, the first Cupkates truck hit the road in 2009. They have been named “Best Food Truck” by SF Weekly and East Bay Express. Four to five days a week, the trucks can be found in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley or Alameda. They also frequent Off The Grid, a weekly gathering of gourmet food trucks from around the Bay Area. Generally on the third Friday of the month, a Cupkates truck also visits the Park Shadelands area in Walnut Creek.

These cupcakes are some of the most delicious I have ever tasted. The cake is moist, the frosting is light and not overly sweet. They offer a multitude of flavors, including: chocolate, vanilla, salted caramel, tiramisu, red velvet and s’mores. Cupkates also create a flavor of the month. Past hits include key lime pie and apricot almond. These cupcakes often sell out long before their time is up at any given location. You can find Cupkates through their website or on Twitter and Facebook. If you are in the Park Shadelands area on a Cupkates day, stop by and indulge!
